The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has vowed to address the issue of ticket racketeering affecting the Abuja-Kaduna Train Service (AKTS). Mr. Yakub Mahmood, Deputy Director of Public Relations for the NRC, confirmed this in a statement issued on Saturday in Lagos.
The NRC acknowledged reports of passengers facing challenges with online ticket purchases, leading to ticket racketeering.
The management is set to take immediate action to resolve the situation and ensure smoother ticket acquisition for passengers.
To arrest the ugly situation, the management has set up a team headed by the deputy director of ICT to investigate.
“In the meantime, the Managing Director of NRC, Mr Freeborn Okhiria, has directed Mr Mohammed Modibo Ibrahim to report and take over as the Manager of the AKTS with immediate effect,” he said.
He appealed to the general public especially the passengers to bear with NRC, saying that the situation would soon be brought under control.
