President Bola Tinubu convened a strategic meeting with the committee responsible for implementing crude oil and refined product sales in Nigeria’s local currency.

Led by Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, the committee gathered at the State House in Abuja.

The initiative aligns with the government's goal of strengthening the naira through local currency transactions in the oil sector, potentially reducing foreign exchange pressures and promoting economic stability.

Those attending the meeting include the Group Chief Executive Officer, GCEO of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, Mr Mele Kyari; the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Dr Zacch Adedeji; and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Yemi Cardoso.
