In a historic announcement at the 11th Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission (BNC) in Cape Town, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa revealed that Nigerian tourists and business travelers can now apply for visas without submitting their passports.

The initiative, unveiled during the meeting with President Bola Tinubu, also includes the rollout of five-year multiple-entry visas for eligible Nigerian businesspeople, reflecting South Africa’s commitment to enhancing bilateral ties and simplifying travel processes.

“Our simplified visa process is part of creating a favorable environment for Nigerian travelers. This includes granting a five-year multiple-entry visa to eligible businesspeople,” he said.

Strengthening Economic Ties

President Ramaphosa emphasized the need to remove barriers to investment and address challenges facing businesses in both nations. He praised Nigeria’s ongoing economic reforms aimed at fostering investor confidence and called for greater collaboration to unlock new opportunities.

“As we mark 30 years of diplomatic relations, we see a bright future. Our strong bonds of friendship lay the groundwork for deeper economic cooperation,” he added.
