The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has successfully facilitated the return of three more Nigerian girls trafficked to Ghana, bringing the total number of Nigerians rescued from the West African country to approximately 200 in recent months.

According to Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO of NIDCOM, the girls were received at the commission’s Lagos office on Thursday, April 18, and have since been handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).

Dabiri-Erewa praised Chief Callistus Elozieuwa, Chairman of the NIDO Ghana Board of Trustees, for his ongoing collaboration with Ghanaian security agencies in fighting human trafficking. She also acknowledged the Nigerian High Commission in Ghana for their consular support and extended gratitude to First Lady Oluremi Tinubu (MON) for covering the girls’ transportation expenses.

The NIDCOM boss emphasized that human trafficking continues to thrive globally because perpetrators are not being named and shamed, urging stronger accountability to curb the scourge of modern-day slavery.
