Renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) has issued a fiery rebuttal to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, who accused him of misrepresenting a Supreme Court ruling on the political defection crisis rocking the Rivers State House of Assembly.
Wike had criticized Falana during a public statement, claiming the senior lawyer’s comments were false and dangerous, capable of inciting political unrest in Rivers. He also labeled Falana a “television lawyer,” questioning his legal credibility.
In response, Falana dismissed Wike’s remarks and took a direct swipe at the minister, saying:
“Mr. Wike is the only Life Bencher in Nigeria who has never handled a case in any trial or appellate court.”
Falana added that he initially ignored the attack but was compelled to speak after Wike’s “media outburst.” The exchange underscores the rising political tensions in Rivers State and the broader debate over party defection.
