The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) announced that the number of Nigerians registered in the National Identification Number (NIN) database rose to 118.4 million as of March 2025, reflecting an increase of over one million from February’s total of 117.3 million.
According to NIMC’s latest update, Lagos (12.7M), Kano (10.4M), and Kaduna (6.9M) top the list of enrolments. In contrast, Bayelsa (767,620), Ebonyi (999,991), and Ekiti (1.1M) recorded the lowest numbers.
Gender distribution shows 66.9M males (56.5%) and 51.5M females (43.5%), highlighting a growing gender gap. The update indicates a steady nationwide push to digitize identity access and governance.
