Security has been significantly tightened around the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja ahead of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Wednesday.
A joint security team comprising military, police, and other security agencies has cordoned off the Buhari House national secretariat on Blantyre Street, Wuse 2, restricting human and vehicular movement. Only NEC members and select individuals are being granted access.
The increased security presence underscores the importance of the NEC meeting, where critical party decisions are expected to be made, shaping the APC’s political strategies and internal governance.
Early arrivals for the meeting included all National Working Committee (NWC) members, state chairmen of the party, former governor of Zamfara State, Sen. Abdulaziz Yari; former governor of Kebbi State and Minister of Budget and National Planning, Sen. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu; Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, among others.
President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shetimma, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker Abbas Tajudeen were expected at the meeting at the time of filing this report.
