Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), reported to the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday morning, accompanied by human rights lawyer Femi Falana, SAN, and others.

After providing his statement, Ajaero left the police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) headquarters at around 11:15 am. While he did not speak to journalists at the IRT, he promised to address the media at the labour headquarters.

His police invitation, linked to an alleged terrorism financing investigation, has sparked controversy, with the NLC and other labour unions accusing the Federal Government of attempting to intimidate labour leaders.

Before honoring the invitation, labor members gathered at the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) headquarters on Thursday in solidarity with their President.

According to the police authorities, Ajaero is to answer questions on his alleged involvement in terrorism financing, cybercrime, subversion, criminal conspiracy, and treasonable felony.

The invitation came after a night raid by the police on the NLC national secretariat in Abuja.

The NLC National Executive Council held an emergency meeting in the early hours of August 20, where they condemned the action.
