President Tinubu Reaffirms Nigeria's Commitment to Strengthening Ties with China

President Bola Tinubu has reiterated Nigeria's dedication to bolstering its relationship with China, with a focus on key sectors such as infrastructure, trade, finance, and energy.

In an op-ed published in China Daily on September 5, 2024, President Tinubu highlighted the increasing partnership between the two nations and expressed optimism for further expanding bilateral trade, which reached $22.6 billion in 2023.

The Nigerian president emphasized the importance of this collaboration in driving economic growth and development in both countries.



Tinubu highlighted the shared strengths of Nigeria and China, noting the similarities between the two nations in terms of their vast economies, rich natural and human resources, and distinctive cultural heritage.

He underscored China’s significant role in Nigeria’s infrastructure development, particularly in transportation, praising the construction of railways, roads, and other public infrastructure facilitated by Chinese investment.
