The Federal Government has identified six locations in Lagos where vehicle owners can convert their cars to run on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) at no cost. This is part of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGi) aimed to reduce Nigerians' fuel expenses.
Announcing the initiative on Thursday via his official X account, Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, stated that the free conversions would begin on Friday, September 13, from 3 pm to 6 pm.
He also noted that the first 50 vehicles at each of the six designated locations that pass inspection will receive free CNG conversion kits.
These vehicles can refuel at ₦230 per Standard Cubic Meter (SCM) at any NIPCO station, significantly reducing fuel costs compared to petrol.
