The Nigeria Police Force has outlined key advantages of its new Electronic Central Motor Registry (E-CMR) innovation, aimed at transforming vehicle verification and tracking processes, particularly in cases of theft.
Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, shared on Thursday via his X handle that the E-CMR will eliminate the need for manual document checks, allowing officers to verify vehicle information instantly with advanced technology.
The initiative promises to enhance efficiency and security in the management of vehicle data across the country.
According to Adejobi, when a vehicle registered with the NPF E-CMR gets stolen, “you can instantly flag it as stolen through your online profile” and it will be recovered.
DAILY POST recalls that the Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun had in July this year ordered the enforcement of the digitalised Central Motor Registry.
The IGP said the move was to modernize and digitize the motor vehicle registration system and improve the nation’s safety and security framework.
