On Tuesday, October 1, Emirates Airline, the flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), it resumed operations in Nigeria, with a flight landing at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.

This marks the airline's return after a two-year suspension due to unresolved issues, including trapped funds.

The suspension had affected travel between Nigeria and the UAE, but the airline’s return signals progress in resolving the underlying disputes. Passengers and stakeholders welcomed the resumption of flights as a boost to international connectivity and travel.

Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo recently visited the UAE to resolve the issues and promised that the airline would resume flights top Nigeria soon.

Flight EK 783 which touched down at the old terminal of the MMIA at exactly 3:32 pm arrived.

Though the number of passengers on board could not be immediately ascertained, several passengers who spoke with Daily Trust said there were many empty seats on the flight.

While the departing passengers were processed at the new terminal, returning passengers arrived via the old terminal.
