Rivers State to Leverage AI for Waste Management, Signs $300M Waste-to-Wealth Project Deal

The Rivers State Government has announced plans to enhance waste management through the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, aiming to unlock economic benefits for residents.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara made the statement following the signing of two Memoranda of Understanding for a $300 million Waste-to-Wealth initiative.

The project includes the development of a 200MW power plant, smart e-mobility solutions, and carbon capture facilities capable of storing 20 tonnes.

These initiatives are expected to bolster the state's economy while advancing sustainable environmental practices.



The MoUs with Intec and Omene Group of Companies, among other things are designed to convert waste to wealth, generate electricity, boost employment opportunities as well as increase the state’s revenue base.
