Edo State Welcomes New Leadership: Senator Monday Okphebholo Sworn In as Governor.

The Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City was filled with activity as Edo State marked a significant political transition.

Governor Godwin Obaseki officially concluded his two-term tenure, paving the way for his successor, Senator Monday Okphebholo, who was sworn in as the new governor of Edo State. Dennis Idahosa also took the oath of office as Deputy Governor.

The inauguration ceremony witnessed a large turnout of dignitaries and supporters, symbolizing a new chapter in the state's governance.



Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, led the Federal Government’s delegation to the inauguration of Senator Monday Okpebholo, as the fifth democratically elected governor of Edo State.

His predecessors are Chief John Odigie Oyegun, Chief Lucky Igbinedion, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, and Mr Godwin Obaseki.

Other dignitaries at the swearing-in ceremony included governors across the country, who were elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), namely, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, Hope Uzodinma of Imo, and Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto among others.

Also present were the National Chairman of the APC, Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, and his predecessor, now Senator Adams Oshiomhole at the event held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin.
