Allied Air Cargo Plane Skids Off Runway at Abuja Airport

An Allied Air Cargo aircraft with registration number 5N-JRT skidded off the runway at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja, on Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred at 10:05 a.m., according to a statement by Mrs. Obiageli Orah, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection for the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

Authorities are assessing the situation, and no injuries have been reported at this time.



According to the statement, there were five souls onboard the cargo plane as at the time of the incident.

She stated that the souls onboard were evacuated and taken to the FAAN clinic for further checks.

The statement said: “The airport emergency response team is on the scene along with accident investigators. The runway is being cleared and is expected to reopen for operations as soon as possible.

“We would like to thank the aviation community and the general public for their understanding and patience.”
