The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed his administration’s determination to enforce compliance with land use and ground rent payments in Abuja.

Speaking during the distribution of 50 Hilux vehicles to security agencies on Thursday, Wike emphasized that his commitment to enforcing regulations would not be swayed by blackmail or sentiments.

The minister’s firm stance underscores efforts to improve revenue generation and maintain order in the FCT.

Addressing the issue of non-payment of ground rents, Wike emphasized that property owners must comply with the law, having been given ample notice.

He also cautioned construction companies in the territory against illegally claiming ownership of government-allocated lands initially provided for their operational needs.

Wike revealed ongoing efforts to enhance security in the FCT, including the construction of 12 police divisions across the six Area Councils. The facilities, slated for completion and handover by April 2024, aim to improve safety in both urban and rural areas.
