Israel carried out airstrikes on Thursday targeting ports and power stations in Yemen, killing three people and injuring 11 others, according to local media reports.

The bombing was in response to increased missile and drone attacks by Houthi rebels in recent weeks.

The Houthi-run Al Masirah TV confirmed two deaths at the airport and one at the port, while the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that Yemen’s capital airport was among the sites struck.

Shortly after, the director of the World Health Organization Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus revealed he was preparing to board a plane at Sana'a International Airport as it "came under aerial bombardment."

"One of our plane's crew members was injured. At least two people were reported killed at the airport," he said in a post on X.

"The air traffic control tower, the departure lounge — just a few meters from where we were — and the runway were damaged."
