A United Airlines flight (UA613) carrying 245 passengers, 8 flight attendants, and 3 pilots was forced to return to Lagos due to technical issues.
The airline management confirmed the flight, which was en route to Washington, DC, landed safely in Lagos, with first responders on hand to address reported injuries.
Repairs and technical adjustments are currently underway to resolve the issue. Passengers with minor injuries received immediate attention.
The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) in a statement on the incident on Friday, said the aircraft made an air return around 03:22 in the morning and landed safely.
The statement signed by FAAN director, public affairs and consumer protection, Obiageli Orah, said all passengers and crew disembarked safely.
She, however, said four passengers and two crew members sustained serious injuries while 27 passengers and five crew members had minor injuries.
“The United Airlines Boeing 787-800 departed Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, at 11.59 p.m. on Thursday, but made air return and landed safely at 3.22 a.m. on Friday,” Orah said.
“On board were 245 adults and 11 crew members.
