Federal Government Reaffirms Commitment to Gender Inclusivity.

The Federal Government has renewed its dedication to promoting gender inclusivity in Nigeria, with Vice President Kashim Shettima emphasizing the importance of empowering women for sustainable economic growth.

Speaking on Tuesday, Shettima, represented by his Deputy Chief of Staff, Ibrahim Hadeja, announced the upcoming gender inclusion conference themed “Breaking Down Barriers and Building Resilience for Sustainable Economic and Financial Inclusion for Women.”

The event is scheduled to take place at the State House Conference Center on Thursday and Friday this week.

The conference aims to address challenges faced by women and foster greater economic and financial inclusion, aligning with the government’s broader efforts to ensure equitable opportunities for all citizens.

 


Buttressing the importance of women and the need to empower them for national development, the Vice President noted that, “The forthcoming gender inclusion conference tagged #sheisincluded, is scheduled to take place Thursday 30th and Friday 31st January 2025, will provide a platform to address pressing challenges related to women’s economic empowerment and inclusion from a holistic perspective.

“The flagship initiative is part of the implementation of the recommendations of the Aso Accord for economic and financial inclusion. It will provide a pivotal platform to promote dialogue, collaboration, and actionable solutions aimed at empowering women and addressing official issues of gender equality across Nigeria and the African continent.”

He maintained that the conference will showcase President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to advancing economic inclusion for women as well as achieving goal five of the Sustainable Development Goals.
