The Ogun State High Court in Abeokuta has dismissed the case filed by former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo, challenging his removal from office.

The court also affirmed Elemide Oludaisi as the legitimate Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly. In its ruling, the court resolved all issues raised in Oluomo’s petition in favor of the defendants, including the incumbent Speaker and other assembly members.

The judgment appears to settle the controversy surrounding the January 23, 2024, removal of Oluomo, confirming that due process was followed.

This decision marks a significant milestone in the ongoing leadership dispute within the state legislature.

Justice Olugboyega Ogunfowora of the State High Court in his very deep, well-researched judgment, affirmed that the House has the right to regulate its activities following the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
