In a strategic move to strengthen human capacity in the oil and gas sector, the Nigerian federal government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Portsmouth (UoP), UK.

This partnership aims to enhance resource exchange for training Nigerians locally, equipping them with global-standard expertise while aligning with the energy transition movement.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, emphasized the collaboration’s significance in developing skilled professionals and driving sustainable growth in the sector.

His Special Adviser on Media and Communication, Nneamaka Okafor made this known in a press statement.

The statement quoted the minister as saying, “This partnership represents a key milestone in our drive to localize capacity development.

While the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) has collaborated with UoP for years to train Nigerians abroad, we are now bringing such partnerships home to expand access and train even more people.
