The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has announced a three-month suspension of Max Air’s operations, effective midnight on January 31, 2025.

This decision follows an incident involving a Max Air B734 aircraft (5N-MBD) during landing at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport on January 28, 2025.

According to NCAA’s Director of Consumer Protection and Public Affairs, Michael Achimugu, the suspension will allow for an internal appraisal by Max Air’s management.

Meanwhile, the NCAA will conduct a comprehensive safety and economic audit to ensure compliance with aviation standards before the resumption of operations.

He said the safety audit will entail a re-inspection of Max Air’s organization, procedures, personnel, and aircraft as specified by Part 1.3.3.3(b) of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations.

Statutorily, he said the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has initiated an investigation into the occurrence, assuring that the NCAA will assist the NSIB in its investigation.

*However, as a result of this incident, Max Air is suspending its domestic flight operations for a period of three. During these 3 months, the NCAA will conduct a thorough safety and economic audit on Max Air.
