The Federal Government of Nigeria has introduced a Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) framework aimed at unifying digital service delivery across government institutions, according to the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani.

Announcing the initiative on Tuesday via a post on X (formerly Twitter), Tijani explained that the framework adopts a whole-government approach, integrating private sector innovation and technology capabilities to deliver seamless and efficient public services.

Digital Public Infrastructure refers to foundational technology systems supporting secure and reliable delivery of essential public and private services in a modern digital economy.

Tijani emphasized that the DPI framework will help build a more connected, accessible, and efficient government, ultimately driving economic growth, transparency, and improved citizen engagement.

The framework will enable the government to “support citizens efficiently from birth to legacy, based on a platform of interoperability across all government services,” he added.

The minister explained that the move would also ensure that technology applications in government are designed and operated without silos while recognising the responsibilities and mandates of various ministries, departments, and agencies of government across all tiers.
