The Federal Government has assured Nigerians that 2025 will mark the year when the transformative reforms introduced by President Bola Tinubu’s administration will begin to yield tangible economic benefits for citizens.

This commitment was made by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, during the Ministerial Press Briefing series held on Tuesday in Abuja.

Since the inauguration of President Tinubu’s administration in May 2023, Nigerians have endured economic hardships, largely triggered by major policy shifts, including the removal of fuel subsidies, the unification of the foreign exchange market, and the recent approval of a 50 per cent increase in data and call tariffs. Plans are also underway to raise electricity tariffs for non-Band A customers.

Despite these challenges, the Minister assured that these reform policies, though difficult, are designed to reset the economy, attract investments, and lay the foundation for sustainable economic growth, with positive outcomes expected to become visible in 2025.

However, Idris reaffirmed the government’s commitment, stating that these reforms — designed to foster economic growth, improve infrastructure, and enhance national security — are expected to start delivering concrete results that will positively impact citizens across the country.

He also highlighted that the recent signing of the N54.2 trillion budget by President Bola Tinubu, the largest in Nigeria’s history, underscores the administration’s dedication to economic growth, national security, and infrastructure development.

He said, “The signing of the N54.2 trillion budget by President Bola Tinubu, the largest in Nigeria’s history, testifies to the administration’s commitment to economic growth, national security, infrastructure development, and human capital advancement.
