Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has appealed to citizens to demonstrate compassion and solidarity with one another during these trying economic times.

She made the call on Thursday at the State House Banquet Hall during an Iftar gathering with former First Ladies, female lawmakers, and spouses of National Assembly members.

Speaking at the event, Mrs. Tinubu emphasized the importance of unity, kindness, and shared responsibility in alleviating the burden on struggling Nigerians. She noted that the administration of President Bola Tinubu remains committed to stabilizing the economy and delivering meaningful improvements to the lives of citizens.

“This is a period for reflection, compassion, and support for one another,” she said. “The government is doing all it can to ease the pressure and bring about lasting positive change.”

She admonished everyone to take one person at a time and lend a helping hand to such.

The first lady said that the Muslim Ramadan and Christian Lent that coincided this year were ordained by God for the betterment of Nigerians.

She said that the period of fasting is a time of sober reflection for both the Muslim and Christian faithful.

“The Muslim ummah should continue in the virtues which they exhibited during Ramadan, and they should always pray for God‘s mercy,” Mrs Tinubu said.

Earlier, the wife of the vice president, Nana Shettima, thanked the first lady for organising the Iftar that brought people together to share in the spirit of the time.
