Vice President Kashim Shettima has called on Nigerians to uphold unity, peaceful coexistence, and religious tolerance as essential pillars for national development and lasting peace. The call was made during an Eid-El-Fitr luncheon held in Maiduguri, Borno State, aimed at fostering post-Ramadan solidarity.

Represented by Hon. Abdulkadir Rahis, who serves in the House of Representatives for the Maiduguri Metropolitan Constituency, Shettima highlighted the need for continued national harmony beyond the holy month of Ramadan. He stressed that social cohesion is critical to supporting the success of the economic reforms currently being implemented by the administration.

“The spirit of unity, sacrifice, and tolerance we have nurtured during Ramadan must be sustained in our communities. These values are the backbone of any nation striving for progress,” Shettima stated.

The Vice President also reassured citizens that the economic policies in place, though demanding in the short term, are designed to yield long-term prosperity and national stability. The luncheon served as a platform for promoting inclusion, dialogue, and collective responsibility in Nigeria’s journey toward recovery and growth.

According to a statement by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima said :“We thank the Almighty Allah for sparing our lives to witness this Eid-El-Fitr.

“I wish to also say that we should all perfect, maintain, and build on the sense of unity that exists among us for our collective gain and progress as a gift for one another,” Shettima said.
