A violent clash erupted in Katampe, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, during the Eid-El-Fitr celebrations, leaving several Fulani youths injured.
The altercation, reportedly triggered by a dispute over girlfriends, quickly escalated as dangerous weapons were allegedly used by the parties involved.
According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency analyst known for his work in the Lake Chad region, the incident resulted in the hospitalization of two individuals. Makama shared details of the unrest via his X (formerly Twitter) handle, describing the confrontation as both avoidable and troubling during a period meant for peace and reflection.
The violent outbreak has raised concerns about youth behavior and security lapses during festive periods, prompting calls for tighter community policing and conflict resolution interventions in suburban parts of the capital.
Authorities have yet to issue an official statement, but local leaders are urging restraint and promoting dialogue to prevent further escalation.

Makama, quoting eyewitnesses, said the fight took place at approximately 1930hrs and quickly escalated, causing a disturbance among the public.
“Upon receiving the distress call, police patrol teams were swiftly deployed to the scene. The situation was brought under control, and the youths involved fled into the nearby bush.
