The Dangote Refinery has officially reduced its petrol loading price to ₦865 per litre, down from ₦880 per litre—a ₦15 decrease that reflects early industry expectations of price adjustments before the week’s end.
The change was confirmed in a notice issued to marketers and customers on Thursday morning and verified by updates from petroleumprice.ng. The reduction comes as the 650,000-barrel-per-day refinery begins to assert greater influence on local fuel pricing amid efforts to stabilize the downstream sector.
Reacting to the development, Chinedu Ukadike, National Publicity Secretary of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), expressed optimism about further reductions, especially in light of the Federal Executive Council’s push for the naira-for-crude initiative, which aims to strengthen the local currency and reduce import dependence.
Analysts believe this price drop could relieve pressure on pump prices, improve fuel affordability, and enhance domestic supply efficiency as Dangote’s operations continue to scale.
