The Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced the temporary suspension of train services on the Warri-Itakpe route for 72 hours, following a technical fault in the train’s engine. The suspension took effect on Thursday, April 11, and is aimed at allowing urgent repairs and safety checks.
This development was confirmed in an official statement signed by Henrietta Eregare, the Acting Spokesperson of the NRC, and made available to the press on Thursday.
The move comes after the train servicing the route broke down on Tuesday, rendering it inoperable and causing delays for passengers. The NRC expressed regret over the inconvenience and assured the public that maintenance teams are working around the clock to restore services.
The Warri-Itakpe rail corridor, known for connecting critical economic zones in the South-South and North-Central regions, has seen increased usage in recent months. NRC emphasized its commitment to safety and reliability and urged passengers to stay updated through official communication channels for resumption details.
