The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ondo/Ekiti Command, has handed over 140 sacks of suspected Cannabis sativa weighing 1,400 kilograms to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). The seizure, valued at approximately ₦112 million, was officially transferred during a handover event held on Monday in Akure.
According to NCS Comptroller Morenikeji Bewaji, the illicit substance was intercepted in Ado-Ekiti on December 7, 2024, while being transported by two suspects who are currently under investigation.
The handover highlights ongoing efforts by Nigerian security agencies to combat drug trafficking across regional borders and reinforces inter-agency collaboration in the fight against illicit substances.
