EFCC Arrests 40 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Niger State, Recovers Cars, Cash, and Fetish Items

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the arrest of 40 suspected internet fraudsters in Bida and Minna LGAs of Niger State. The arrests were carried out by operatives of the Kaduna Zonal Directorate following credible intelligence linking the individuals to cybercrime activities.

According to a statement by EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, various items were seized during the operation, including:

  • Three vehicles

  • Eight power generators

  • Ten motorcycles

  • 60 Android phones

  • Eight laptops

  • Fetish items such as calabashes with feathers, cowries, women’s underwear, and locally made charms

The suspects are currently under investigation and will be charged to court once inquiries are completed. The operation underscores the EFCC’s ongoing crackdown on internet fraud and its evolving connection with ritual practices.
