Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has officially appointed global music icon Innocent Ujah Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, as the state's Technical Adviser on Entertainment and Community Outreach.
The announcement was made on Wednesday at Government House, Makurdi, during 2Baba’s courtesy visit to sympathize with the governor.
Recognizing 2Baba as a "worthy ambassador" of Benue, Governor Alia praised his impact on the global music stage and his philanthropic work supporting vulnerable communities. The governor expressed confidence that 2Baba’s new role would enhance entertainment initiatives and foster meaningful community engagement across the state.
Alia also stressed the importance of international standards in handling Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps and appreciated 2Baba’s intention to contribute responsibly. “We need to know who goes in and out of the camps... They’ve been traumatised enough,” the governor said, emphasizing the need to safeguard displaced communities.
